As we use the Twelve Steps of SLAA in our recovery, many of us experience higher levels of self-esteem, and receive unexpected blessings we would not have known how to ask for.
- We discover a growing sense of self-worth and dignity, and receive blessings we never knew how to ask for.
- We come to know true intimacy—first with ourselves, then with a Higher Power, and finally with others.
- Our sexuality is transformed, becoming a healthy expression of love within committed and non-addictive relationships.
- Our relationships are no longer driven by power, prestige, or self-seeking, but by honesty, respect, and mutual care.
- Our work and vocation take on new meaning, and we are drawn toward what is fulfilling rather than merely secure.
- We become instruments of healing, as our past suffering is transformed into compassion and help for others.
- We strengthen our recovery by sharing it, finding purpose and growth in working with others in the Fellowship.
- We experience an inner dignity that does not depend on others, knowing our worth as something given, not earned.
- We find deep healing from shame, guilt, and emotional wounds, and grow in acceptance, forgiveness, and peace.
- We are freed from the tyranny of obsession and compulsion, gaining the gift of choice in our thoughts and actions.
- We learn to form authentic, loving relationships, grounded in trust, communication, and emotional presence.
- We discover a new sense of purpose and usefulness, as our lives become meaningful, directed, and open to ongoing growth.
